We held our opening event last night and had a blast!
About 60 people came throughout the evening to submit their zines, browse the collection and participate in our zine making workshop. It was great to chat to everyone about the Zine Library and what we are up to and we really appreciate everyone who came! We’re also really grateful to the awesome Central Library staff who made the event possible (and even participated in some zine making!) We’re taking it easy this morning at E.Z.L HQ reading the zines we received as well as the amazing pages people contributed to our first ever 24-Hr collaborative zine! We’ll be putting up a gallery of photos people took at the event – if you have any you’d like to include, please send them to us!
What next for the Zine Library?
After the excitement of the opening event we are having a paperwork-heavy November, as we look to register as an unincorporated organisation, write our constitution and pursue some funding. We are also building a brand spanking new website which will have a searchable catalogue, and generally improving and fine-tuning our submissions and cataloging processes.
Alongside all this very necessary admin stuff, we will be representing at the Zine Fair run by Crisps Shop at Paradise Palms, 1-6pm on Sunday November 19th and we look forward to hopefully seeing some of you there!
We are still looking for submissions, to find out how to submit your zines, and the locations of our physical submissions box(s) click here!
Lots of people expressed an interest in getting involved with EZL – if you want to find out more about becoming a member please send us an email on firstname.lastname@example.org!
